    Murine cutaneous mast cell precursors originate from bone marrow stem cells. These precursors can mature into mast cells even without an intact bone marrow microenvironment.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate if an intact bone marrow microenvironment is essential for the maturation of murine cutaneous mast cells.

    Main Methods:

    • Bone marrow cells were transplanted into mast cell-deficient mice (WBB6F1-W/Wv).
    • One group of mice underwent irradiation (89Sr) to ablate the bone marrow microenvironment.
    • Skin biopsies were analyzed for mast cell repopulation and natural killer cell function.
