    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the protective effects of dietary calcium loading and hypercalciuria against gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity in a rat model.

    • Male Fischer 344 rats were fed either a normal (0.5%) or high (4%) calcium diet.
    • Animals received gentamicin (20 mg/kg b.i.d.) for 3 to 21 days.
