Abstract:
Analysis of a series of 2 901 personally performed hysterectomies showed the ratio of vaginal to abdominal procedures to be 2,5:1. Symptoms, problems at operation, late results and complications are discussed. The incidence of post-hysterectomy carcinoma of the ovary is unexpectedly high. The vaginal procedure appears to be the method of choice whenever applicable.
