[Treatment of inoperable oesophageal malignancies with a thermal probe (author's transl)]

Abstract:
In inoperable stenosing tumours of the oesophagus the problem arises of maintaining oral food intake. As malignant cells are more cold-sensitive than normal cells oesophageal tumours may be "cold-coagulated" with special probes. Preliminary results with this treatment in 28 patients are reported.
