Oblique incision of the cystic duct for operative cholangiography

An oblique incision of the cystic duct is recommended for operative cholangiography. An oblique incision allows good visualization of the cystic duct lumen which is often difficult to see because of the thick mucosa of the cystic duct and the spiral valves of Heister.
