[Instrumental methods in diagnosing and treating cancer patients in the polyclinic]
Abstract:
In a general program of the anticancerogenic therapy several aspects should be now emphasized. Among them, apart from such problems as the organization of anticancerogenic therapy by skilled professionals and prophylactic medical examinations of oncologic patients including the provision of clinical, occupational and social rehabilitation, the early detection of malignant tumors at the beginning morphologic stages is of a great importance. It is noted that a number of measures permits avoiding serious and complex therapy. These are the detection of "high risk" groups, complex clinical examinations using state-of-the-art diagnosis methods including mammography, ductography, thermography, puncture biopsy followed cytologic studies, histologic studies of tissues ablated in the course of partial mammectomy as well as in the laser dissection of skin pigment formations performed in ambulatory conditions.

Cancer Therapies
However, cancer treatments can pose several challenges, as therapies used to kill cancer cells are generally also toxic to normal cells. Moreover, cancer cells mutate rapidly and can develop resistance to chemical agents or radiation therapy. Besides, all types of cancer cells may not respond to the same therapy. Some cancer cells respond to one...
