Successful replantation of an amputated upper lip
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
|April 1, 1984
Abstract:
An upper lip completely amputated in an industrial accident was successfully replanted. Although it was not possible to restore the venous return, the replanted piece did survive. The venous stasis was successfully overcome by the continuous application of leeches during the first 9 postoperative days. The replanted lip healed in place completely; no secondary repair was required.
