[Is there a relation between parathormone and prolactin secretion in patients with acute and chronic kidney failure?]
Abstract:
In 14 healthy persons, 31 patients with acute and 13 with chronic renal failure the influence of alpha-bromocriptine on the PTH and prolactin level in the blood serum was investigated. In all subjects examined alpha-bromocriptine caused a decrease of the prolactin level. In acute and chronic renal failure simultaneously a decrease, on the other hand in healthy persons an increase of the PTH-concentration was observed. In all groups examined no correlation between the PTH and the prolactin level could be stated. In the light of the results obtained in this study the existence of a direct PTH-depending prolactin secretion seems to be questionable.
