    Area of Science:

    • Hepatology
    • Obstetrics and Gynecology
    • Infectious Diseases

    Background:

    • Amoebic liver abscess (ALA) is an uncommon complication during pregnancy.
    • Prompt diagnosis and management are crucial for maternal and fetal well-being.

    Observation:

    • Two cases of ALA in pregnant patients are presented.
    • One patient was diagnosed via laparotomy at 28 weeks gestation.

    Findings:

    • The pregnancy in the laparotomy case continued to term without complications.
    • Key diagnostic features of ALA in pregnancy were identified.

    Implications:

    • Highlights the importance of early detection and intervention for ALA in pregnancy.
    • Emphasizes metronidazole and surgical aspiration or laparotomy as effective treatment strategies.
