Kindling in the cortical nucleus of the amygdala
Brain Research
|March 19, 1984
Abstract:
Rats with electrodes in the cortical (ACO) and basolateral (ABL) nuclear masses of the amygdaloid complex were stimulated electrically in a standard kindling paradigm. No differences between the groups were found in afterdischarge or generalized seizure thresholds, or afterdischarge durations. The ACO group however, did require more stimulations to reach a stage 5 seizure, with the delay in kindling being restricted to the early stages (stages 1 and 2) of kindling development. Results are discussed with respect to anatomical connections of the amygdala.
