Background:

Toxoplasmosis is a common parasitic infection, typically asymptomatic or mild in immunocompetent individuals.
Acquired toxoplasmosis can manifest in various ways, including lymphadenitis, which is often diagnosed based on clinical and serological findings.
The presence of Toxoplasma gondii cysts in lymph node tissue is a key diagnostic feature, though rarely observed.

Observation:

This report details a case of acute acquired toxoplasmosis in a non-immunosuppressed patient.
Distinctive histopathologic changes characteristic of toxoplasmic lymphadenitis were observed.
The cyst form of Toxoplasma gondii was identified within the affected nodal tissue.

Findings:

This is the third reported instance of observing the cyst form of Toxoplasma gondii in lymph node tissue.
Crucially, this case represents the first confirmation of these cysts in nodal tissue using electron microscopy.
The findings correlate histopathologic changes with the presence of parasitic cysts.

Implications:

Electron microscopy provides definitive identification of Toxoplasma gondii cysts in lymphadenitis, aiding diagnosis.
This case expands the understanding of the histopathology of toxoplasmic lymphadenitis in immunocompetent hosts.
Further research into the morphology and detection of Toxoplasma cysts in various tissues is warranted.
