Transcatheter electrocautery as an aid in the percutaneous insertion of a ureteral stent

Abstract:
A technique of transcatheter electrocautery to facilitate insertion of a ureteral stent is described. Electrocautery was used to cut through a localized obstruction at the ureterovesical junction. The stiff end of a standard angiographic guide wire was used to push through a second blockage at the ureterovesical junction on the opposite side in the same patient.
