    Area of Science:

    • Plastic Surgery
    • Reconstructive Surgery
    • Aesthetic Surgery

    Background:

    • Nipple reconstruction is a crucial component of breast reconstruction.
    • Previous breast reconstruction methods, such as the transverse abdominal island flap, may require secondary nipple reconstruction.
    • Achieving optimal nipple size and projection remains a challenge in reconstructive surgery.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe a refined technique for nipple reconstruction using local tissue.
    • To evaluate the preliminary outcomes of this new nipple reconstruction method.

    Main Methods:

    • A refined surgical technique for nipple reconstruction utilizing local tissue was developed.
    • The technique was applied to 31 patients who had previously undergone transverse abdominal island flap breast reconstruction.
    • Follow-up was conducted for up to 12 months.

    Main Results:

    • The refined nipple reconstruction technique was successfully performed on 31 patients.
    • Preliminary follow-up data (up to 12 months) indicate excellent outcomes.
    • The technique achieved the desired nipple size and projection in the evaluated patients.

    Conclusions:

    • The described refinement in local tissue nipple reconstruction offers a promising solution.
    • This technique appears to yield excellent aesthetic results in terms of nipple size and projection.
    • Further studies with longer follow-up are warranted to confirm these preliminary findings.
