Small superficial cerebrovascular lesions: clinical and computed tomographic correlations
Abstract:
The clinical and diagnostic studies in 40 patients with small superficial cerebrovascular lesions which were detected by CT is reviewed. Nine patients presented with seizures. Fourteen patients had pure motor hemiparesis. Eight of 17 patients had angiographic evidence of extracranial internal carotid stenosis (greater than 80%). CT showed an isodense gyral enhancing lesion in 21, hypodense lesion with enhancement in 11 and a hypodense nonenhancing lesion in 8. The prognosis for clinical recovery was best in those patients with an idodense enhancing lesion.
