    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence of anemia and alterations in hemoglobin and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) in patients with uncomplicated hyperthyroidism.
    • To assess the reversibility of these hematological changes after treatment.

    Main Methods:

    • Analysis of hemoglobin concentration and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) in 239 hyperthyroid patients.
    • Assessment of iron deficiency via transferrin saturation.
    • Monitoring hematological parameters before and after hyperthyroid treatment.

    Main Results:

    • A significant proportion of hyperthyroid patients, particularly women, exhibited low hemoglobin levels, with some cases of iron deficiency.
