The socio-political context of food--behavior research

There is intense popular interest in possible connections between foods and behavior. Although this interest is often a distraction to serious investigators, it often does reflect actual developments in science: it springs in part from legitimate public concerns, and may affect the directions such research takes and the peer-acceptance of its results.
