Abstract:
Cross-linked collagen-calcium phosphate gel can be used to induce regeneration and calcification of pulp tissue within teeth of rhesus monkeys. This nontoxic gel is resorbed and replaced by vascularized cellular hard tissue resembling dentin or cementum. Possible mechanisms for calcified tissue formation are discussed.
