    Area of Science:

    • Neurology
    • Epileptology

    Background:

    • Reading epilepsy is a rare form of reflex epilepsy.
    • It is often refractory to standard anticonvulsant treatments.

    Observation:

    • A 19-year-old male presented with generalized seizures.
    • Seizures were preceded by jaw myoclonus specifically induced by reading.

    Findings:

    • Treatment with clonazepam achieved complete control of reading-induced jaw myoclonus.
    • Clonazepam successfully managed the generalized seizures associated with reading.

    Implications:

    • Clonazepam can be an effective therapeutic option for refractory reading epilepsy.
    • This case highlights the potential of targeted pharmacotherapy in managing specific reflex seizures.
