Total parenteral nutrition with complete nutritive mixtures is a new adjunct therapy in cancer treatment, it must be the first and foremost type of nutritional support for many patients because it allows regional surgery in digestive cancer, abdominal radiotherapy without therapeutic interruption and sequential chemotherapy which is well tolerated. The patients may be maintained either on ambulatory or "home" parenteral nutrition.
