    Background:

    • Bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue (BALT) and gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) are primary sources of B lymphocytes.
    • Antigen exposure in these tracts triggers proliferation of precursor lymphoid cells.

    • To explore the role of middle ear immunocompetent tissue in otitis media with effusion.
    • To investigate the connection between middle ear disease and the upper respiratory tract's mucosal immune system.
