[Experimental studies on the bactericidal activity of formaldehyde]

A modified version of the contact test was used to assess the activity of a 1.2% and a 2.4% aqueous solution of formaldehyde against 14 hospital and standard bacterial strains. Generally speaking, there was average antibacterial activity for contact times in the 15-30 min range, while excellent activity was observed when longer periods were employed.
