    Summary

    Following partial hepatectomy in rats, liver cytosolic function (galactose elimination capacity) rapidly normalized within hours. However, endoplasmic reticulum function (prothrombin index) recovery took days, demonstrating a temporal dissociation of liver functions during regeneration.
