Dose response of intravenous mannitol on the human eye
Abstract:
At a dose of 1 gm/kg body weight, intravenous mannitol caused a significant reduction in both intraocular pressure and anterior chamber depth in seven sitting, normal subjects. Intraocular pressure dropped from 15.3+/-4.6 to 11+/-3.4 mm Hg and anterior chamber depth decreased from 3.18+/-.34 to 3.13+/-.34 mm Hg. Intravenous mannitol may lower intraocular pressure without reducing vitreous volume.
