    Summary

    Bromocriptine showed no significant improvement in sperm count or hormone levels for infertile males with idiopathic oligozoospermia compared to placebo. The study found no added benefit of bromocriptine over placebo for treating this condition.

    Background:

    • Idiopathic oligozoospermia is a common cause of male infertility.
    • Bromocriptine is a dopamine agonist sometimes used to treat hormonal imbalances affecting fertility.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of bromocriptine versus placebo in treating infertile males with idiopathic oligozoospermia.
    • To assess the effects of bromocriptine on sperm parameters and hormonal profiles.

    Main Methods:

    • Prospective, randomized, double-blind, crossover study.
    • 17 infertile males with idiopathic oligozoospermia participated.
    • Patients received bromocriptine (5 mg/day) or placebo for four months, followed by the alternative treatment for four months.
