Summary

Swine alveolar macrophages (SAM) are spherical cells that adhere to surfaces and are esterase-positive but mostly peroxidase-negative. These macrophages exhibit phagocytic activity but lack cytotoxic and inhibitory functions in lymphocyte proliferation.
