    Background:

    • Monocyte-macrophage system is often overlooked in cancer immunology research, with a focus primarily on lymphocyte function.
    • Understanding monocyte-macrophage system's role in cancer is crucial for developing novel immunotherapies.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate peripheral blood monocyte-macrophage function in various cancer types.
    • To compare monocyte-macrophage function between cancer patients and healthy controls.
    • To explore potential correlations between monocyte-macrophage function and cancer type/stage.

    Main Methods:

    • Enumeration of extractible monocytes (EM).
    • Quantitation of differentiation into macrophages (macrophage precursor test: MP).
    • Evaluation of antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and spontaneous cellular cytotoxicity (SCC).
