    Summary

    Myelography can diagnose spinal cord tumors, but cord widening isn't always definitive. Severe cervical arachnoiditis can mimic tumors, so it should be considered in diagnoses.

    Background:

    • Myelography is a key diagnostic tool for spinal cord tumors.
    • A widened spinal cord on myelography often indicates a tumor.

    Observation:

    • Two patients presented with clinical signs of spinal cord tumors.
    • Both patients showed cord widening on myelography.

    Findings:

    • Neither patient had an intrinsic spinal cord abnormality.
    • Both patients were diagnosed with severe cervical arachnoiditis.

    Implications:

    • Cervical arachnoiditis can mimic spinal cord tumors on myelography.
    • Consider arachnoiditis in the differential diagnosis of suspected spinal cord tumors.
