Background:

Chronic active hepatitis is linked to kidney issues like glomerulonephritis and vasculitis.
Immune system dysregulation plays a role in hepatitis-associated renal complications.

Observation:

A patient presented with acute renal failure.
Renal biopsy revealed interstitial infiltration by lymphocytes, plasma cells, and neutrophils.

Findings:

The acute renal failure was reversible.
Prednisone administration led to the recovery of renal function.

Implications:

Interstitial nephritis may be a common, yet underrecognized, complication of acute and chronic hepatitis.
Prompt diagnosis and immunosuppressive therapy can restore kidney function in hepatitis-related renal failure.
