    Area of Science:

    • Pulmonology
    • Pediatric Pathology

    Background:

    • Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition characterized by airway inflammation.
    • Bronchial polyps are uncommon, typically benign growths in the airways.

    Observation:

    • A 10-year-old boy with asthma presented with the expulsion of approximately 50 inflammatory bronchial polyps.
    • The polyps, ranging from 0.4 to 1.8 cm, were microscopically characterized by columnar epithelium and chronic inflammatory infiltration, including eosinophils.

    Findings:

    • Laboratory results revealed blood eosinophilia (3-10%) but were otherwise normal.
    • Chest roentgenogram showed minor nodular lesions in the left perihilar region and right upper lobe.
    • Pulmonary function tests and blood gas analysis were within normal limits.

    Implications:

    • This case underscores a rare clinical presentation of inflammatory bronchial polyps associated with asthma in a pediatric patient.
    • The findings suggest a need for considering inflammatory bronchial polyps in the differential diagnosis of pediatric respiratory symptoms, especially in asthmatic individuals.
