[Formation of generalized convulsive activity in mice administered corazol daily in subthreshold doses]

Chronic experiments on (CBA X C57BL/6)F1 hybrids. BALC/C and random-bred mice were made to study the effect of repeated daily injections of pentylenetetrazole in subthreshold doses of 60, 40 and 30 mg/kg. Repeated stimulation with the drug led to a progressive development of generalized seizure fits. The effect depended on the pentylenetetrazole dose and duration of its administration. The 10-30-day interval between the injections did not significantly lower the seizure effect. It is concluded that repeated injections of pentylenetetrazole in subthreshold doses lead to the development of the "kindling" effect.
