    Background:

    • Cardiac dysfunction is a critical complication of sepsis.
    • Taurine plays a vital role in myocardial function.
    • Endotoxin from Escherichia coli is a potent trigger of sepsis and cardiac depression.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the impact of Escherichia coli endotoxin on cardiac taurine levels in dogs.
    • To correlate changes in cardiac taurine with endotoxin-induced cardiac dysfunction.

    Main Methods:

    • Intravenous administration of Escherichia coli endotoxin to dogs.
    • Measurement of taurine levels in various cardiac regions (ventricles, atria) at different time points.
    • Echocardiography and left ventricular cannulation to assess cardiac output and contractility.
