    Summary

    Posterior submitral recess (PSMR) calcification, often found in elderly individuals, appears to be linked to atherosclerosis and hypertension. Studies show PSMR changes resemble atheroma and can be replicated in monkeys with high-fat diets and hypertension.

    Background:
