    Summary

    This study shows that combining conservative surgery with radiotherapy is an effective treatment for craniopharyngioma, with all patients alive and tumor-free after 2-12 years.

    Background:

    • Craniopharyngiomas are rare tumors often presenting with significant neurological and visual symptoms.
    • Treatment of craniopharyngiomas is challenging due to their location and potential for recurrence.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the long-term outcomes of craniopharyngioma patients treated with a combined surgery and radiotherapy approach.
    • To assess the efficacy of radical radiotherapy in managing recurrent tumors after initial surgical resection.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 18 patients with craniopharyngiomas treated between 1970-1980.
    • All patients received surgical intervention followed by radiotherapy (50-60 Gy).
    • Six patients received radiotherapy for tumor recurrence post-surgery.
