    Background:

    • Necrotizing lymphadenitis is a rare condition initially described in Japan.
    • It is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant lymphoma.
    • This study investigates cases in the United States.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe the clinical and pathological features of necrotizing lymphadenitis in US patients.
    • To identify immunologic markers associated with the condition.
    • To differentiate it from other causes of reactive lymphadenitis.

    Main Methods:

    • Study included 30 patients with necrotizing lymphadenitis.
    • Histopathological examination of excised lymph nodes.
    • Immunohistochemical staining for immunologic markers (63D3, Leu-2a).

    • Patients were predominantly young women with subacute cervical adenopathy.
