    Purpose of the Study:

    • To design and evaluate an etomidate infusion regimen for balanced, total intravenous anesthesia.
    • To maintain plasma etomidate levels above the awakening threshold (300 ng/ml).
    • To avoid dose-related side effects associated with etomidate administration.

    • An etomidate infusion regimen was administered: 0.1 mg/kg/min for 3 min, 0.02 mg/kg/min for 27 min, and 0.01 mg/kg/min thereafter.
