    Summary

    This case study highlights a severe progressive systemic sclerosis patient with eosinophilia, who rapidly developed colonic diverticula and died from renal failure. Eosinophilia may indicate a poor prognosis in this condition.

    Background:

    • A patient presented with PSS exhibiting significant blood and pleural fluid eosinophilia.
    • The disease followed a rapid, fulminating course.
    • Development of wide-mouth colonic diverticula occurred within 10 weeks of symptom onset.

    • The patient experienced rapid disease progression, leading to death from renal failure within five and a half months.
    • The co-occurrence of eosinophilia and rapid PSS progression suggests a potential link.
