    Summary

    Patients with connective tissue disease using dexamethasone eye drops showed a higher steroid response, particularly males. Regular glaucoma screening is recommended for male patients on local steroids.

    Background:

    • Connective tissue diseases (CTDs) can affect ocular health.
    • Topical corticosteroids like dexamethasone are used to manage ocular inflammation.
    • Steroid response, including intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation, varies among individuals.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the incidence of steroid-induced ocular hypertension in patients with CTDs.
    • To assess the response to topical dexamethasone in this specific patient population.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 34 patients diagnosed with CTDs received 0.1% dexamethasone eye drops in one eye.
    • Treatment duration was 6 weeks.
    • Steroid response, defined by IOP changes, was monitored.
