Abstract:
A sample of 317 individuals living in Barcelona (Spain) has been examined in relation to the haptoglobin subtypes. The gene frequencies were: Hp1F = 0.142, Hp1S = 0.238, Hp2FF = 0.006, Hp2FS = 0.621 and Hp2SS = 0.002, with an Hp1S/Hp1 ratio of 0.627. The results have been compared with those found in other European populations.
