[Acrosome--its protein composition and function]

In situ studies on total proteins and some hydrolytic enzymes extracted by acid treatment of the bull sperm acrosomes were carried out. The acrosomal proteins studied by cathodic disc electrophoresis (pH 4.3) were found to be polymorphic, with three phenotypes. The isoenzyme pattern of the acrosomal enzymes under study (acrosin, acid phosphatase and non-specific esterases) was identified as well.
