    Background:

    • A primitive cholinergic system is transiently expressed in embryonic tissues during morphogenesis.

    • To investigate the capability of embryonic cells for acetylcholine synthesis.
    • To correlate acetylcholine synthesis with cholinesterase expression in developing chick limb buds.
