Abstract:
Improved chemotherapeutic results have been obtained recently with combinations of 5-fluorouracil, adriamycin, and mitomycin or a nitrosourea derivative. The response rates have been raised to 40%, and the median survival rate of responding patients has been increased to over 12 months. Regional disease should be treated by chemotherapy plus irradiation. Patients with curative resections are receiving adjuvant chemotherapy with improved regimens in various ongoing studies.
