Abstract:
By examining sexuality in breastfeeding as a reinforcement to ensure the continuity of the human species as well as promoting spacing between pregnancies, the authors review cross-cultural perspectives, physiology, and research on this topic. Individual responses from breastfeeding women are also reported to enlarge the nurse's understanding of a dimension of human behavior not usually acknowledged.
