Hypoglycemia: clinical significance and management during foot surgery

Hypoglycemia, an abnormally low level of glucose in the circulating blood, is discussed in this paper. Dr. Kaner describes the clinical significance, signs, symptoms, and etiology, as well as the evaluation and management during pre- and postoperative foot surgery. Although there is no direct relationship between hypoglycemia and foot pathology and it is not generally a contraindication to elective foot surgery, the disease must be correctly evaluated preoperatively and properly managed before, during, and after the surgical procedure.
