    Summary

    Immune responses reduce the absorption of inhaled proteins like human serum albumin (HSA) into the lungs. This effect is mediated by antibodies and is specific to the inhaled antigen.

    Background:

    • Inhaled proteins, such as human serum albumin (HSA) and ovalbumin (OA), are absorbed intact into the pulmonary circulation.
