Indirect clinical methods for evaluation of resin filling materials
International Dental Journal
|December 1, 1980
Abstract:
The importance of a correlation between quality data and reasons for replacement of dental restorations is emphasized. For composite resins, deterioration of the marginal adaptation seems to be the single most dominating reason for replacement followed by recurrent caries and general discoloration. A comparison of direct and indirect clinical techniques is made and benefits and shortcomings are discussed. In conclusions direct visual inspection is recommended for extensive survey studies while indirect procedures may be suitable in smaller and more discriminatory experimental investigations.
