[Various reference points in relation to the economic aspects of hospital prescribing (author's transl)]

A brief summary is given of the pharmaceutical industry and the manufacture of medicines. Consumption of these products represents a large part of public hospital spending in Paris, the greater part of the sum spent being due to medical prescriptions. Specific studies, or "Budit", having the objective of analyzing and attempting to reduce the consumption of medicines, are being developed by the hospital administration services in Paris.
