Abstract:
Sclerosing therapy requires a perfect knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of the various sclerosing substances, the best, for many people, being the one with which they have the most experience. The author, however, prefers to use an iodo-iodized solution because of its efficiency. It is painless when injected only within the lumen of the vein. Weak dilutions can be prepared with saline solutions, from 0.05 to 4 per cent, and can be used for large vessels as well as for varicosities. It is reliable and acts gradually without painful inflammation of the vein when the dose is correct. It has few disadvantages : over 25 years of use, no immediate shock was observed and secondary-type intolerance was rare and benign. The was one single counter-indication, namely hyperthyroidism.
