    Background:

    • The Gow-Gates mandibular block was introduced in 1973 as a novel intraoral regional anesthesia technique.
    • It has since been adopted by most dental schools in the United States.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To clinically evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Gow-Gates technique.
    • To compare its outcomes with the conventional inferior alveolar nerve block.

    Main Methods:

    • A clinical evaluation of the Gow-Gates technique was performed.
    • Data were collected over 5 years and from more than 4,000 cases.

    Main Results:

    • The Gow-Gates technique demonstrated a greater success rate compared to the conventional inferior alveolar nerve block.
    • It also showed a decreased positive aspiration rate.
    • Fewer postinjection problems were reported with the Gow-Gates technique.
