[Surgical reduction of facial vertical axis excess (author's transl)]

A variation is proposed in the surgical technique employed to treat facial vertical axis excess (Long Face Syndrome). The conventional osteotomy used to treat Le Fort's fracture by means of wide horizontal incisions has been modified. The excessive height of the maxilla is treated by vertical incisions united by tunnels, osteotomy of the posterior wall of the maxillary sinus using the "egg-shell" technique, contention by Champy's plates, and genioplasty to correct the constantly exaggerated height of the mandibular symphysis.
