    Summary

    This study reveals retinal capillary wall thickening and lumen narrowing in parafoveal telangiectasis, not vessel dilation. Primary endothelial cell issues drive these degenerative changes throughout the retina.

    • Multilayered basement membrane proliferation caused capillary wall thickening.
    • Degenerated endothelial cells and pericytes, along with lipid material, were entrapped within the basement membrane.
